Two Forms of Cancer in One Print E-mail

Monday, 07 April 2008

cicarette_box_mobile-thumb-450x337.jpgAmy Winehouse, Britney Spears, and Sean Penn are just few of your favorite celebs who enjoy filling their lungs with nicotine. Thanks to this brand new creation, a cell phone that doubles as a Marlboro cigarette box, these celebs can get lung cancer and allegedly brain tumors all in one little device.

Sure, it's one less thing to carry when you can either leave the box of cigs behind or the cell phone but it's 45 less years on your life.

Some of you, you know who you are, might think who needs Amy, Brit and Sean around? I on the other hand, fear a day when I can't write a blog or two a day about those trainwrecks. It would make my life so much harder. Try writing a celeb blog and not including a Brit story, do it. I dare you.

Teeth: Not Just for Eating and Looking Pretty Print E-mail

Wednesday, 02 April 2008

grill-42999.jpgBack in 2005, rapper Paul Wall busted on to the scene. His southern twang and mouth full of platinum and diamonds made him one of the stars of the Houston rap revolution.

Paul Wall gave us some tracks worth bobbing your head to while driving to our hopeless jobs, which is good. Every now and then you need some bass heavy beats with some white dude rapping really slow to help you get through your life. Not all was good with the Paul Wall era, which actually still goes on but with much less momentum these days.

Many saw the shinny goodness in Paul's mouth and said, "I want platinum and diamond encrusted teeth just like Paul Wall."

This was not a good look for anyone who put in the effort to emulate Mr. Wall. None, not one - I did the math.

Just when it looked like we were all in agreement not to add anything to our teeth again, a company called Chinavision announces their latest product - a Bluetooth microphone that is drilled into your teeth . Feel free to read those last few words one more time.......And we're back.

I hope I am not alone when I think that drilling a hole just so your voice can sound a little clearer while talking on the phone seems a bit dumb and painful. Actually it doesn't seem a bit dumb and painful, it sounds extremely dumb and painful.

My teeth remain jewlery-less and Bluetooth microphone-less, and if I ever have ideas to change the status of my teeth from tools to chew food to something else, please hunt me down and knock my teeth out.

Gizmodo vs. Engadget: A lot like McCartney vs. Mills Print E-mail
Tek Swank Investigates
Thursday, 27 March 2008

mills-mccartney-yellow-teeth.jpgTech magazine WIRED has just released a feature about the rivalry between the top two tech blogs on the net, Engadget and Gizmodo. The war between the two blogs to get the scoop, get more eyeballs and get more ad dollars is more heated than the most intense celeb feud or break up.

Think of it like 2pac and Biggie without any deaths. No, maybe its more like McCartney and Mills without the prosthetic limbs. Yeah that's more like it.

Just like Sir Paul and Heather, at one time they had a relationship. Peter Rojas who started Gizmodo left his boss at Gawker for more cash and went and started Engadget. What did Heather Mills want? More cash.

Neither Gizmodo or Engadget have yet to produce a number one hit single like Sir Paul but they have created a "Revolution".

Internet in Cars: Just What We Needed Print E-mail

britney-hits-parked-car-2.jpg Chrysler has announced that they plan on bringing internet access to their vehicles. I know there are times when I am stuck in some Hollywood style bumper-to-bumper action and would love to just log on to the web and read a blog or two. So this, at first, sounded quite awesome.

But, the more I think about it the more frightened I got. Celebrities are already crashing up this town with distractions like alcohol, drugs, cell phones, Blackberry, Sidekick, etc while behind the wheel. Now, we're going to give them the opportunity to drive while reading about themselves on TMZ or Perez Hilton. I am never leaving my house again.

Oh wait, you said Chrysler. Oh in that case, no need to worry. Do you think any of these trainwrecks would be caught dead driving a Chrysler. For my sake, I hope not.

Charlie Rose Saves MacBook Air; Hurts Face Print E-mail
Tek Swank Investigates
Tuesday, 18 March 2008

charlierose1.jpgPBS' Charlie Rose appeared on last night's show looking like a victim of a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick or two. According to the good people over at TechCrunch, however that shiner the journalist was sporting last night was not the result of brut force from the legendary leg of Norris.

Rose's eye got bruised and abused from a fall while walking down the busy streets of New York. In order to protect his brand new MacBook Air, Rose sacrificed his mug.

Having lost that MacBook Air would have really hurt. Really. Like if you fell right on your face on a New York street. Well, maybe not that much. He's important, the Apple PR team would surely hooked him up with a new one. Smart man on a smart show, not a smart move, Charlie.

Not Even the New Minox Camera with 40x Magnification can Find Patricia Heaton's Belly Button Print E-mail

Wednesday, 12 March 2008

minox.jpg Minox recently introduced the Digital Eyepiece Camera 5.0 which aims to bring "affordable digiscoping to everyone." The camera features 40x magnification. With that kind of zoom for the low price of $499, everyone can get in on the paparazi game.

Warning, that game is not for everyone.

Few people can zoom in on former Everybody Loves Raymond star, Patricia Heaton and not lose their lunch at the close-up view of her bellybutton-less torso.

Breast Augmentation Photoshop Style Print E-mail

foolsgold-poster-big.jpg

While many of Hollywood's starlets have turned to their plastic surgeon for a boost in their busts, Hollywood studios have recently turned to their Photoshop experts to augment the chests of their stars in their movie posters.

According to the Daily Mail in the UK, Kate Hudson is the latest female to recieve the Photoshop bump. Hudson was upgraded from an A-Cup to a B-Cup in the poster for Fool's Gold, because who would want to see a movie starring an A-Cupper? With Hudson as a B the movie saw A-level success, topping the box office.

As Defamer points out, Kate is just one of many who have had some mamary enhancements without going under the knife.

With the success of Fool's Gold, we can expect to see more digital boob jobs. Actually, even if the film had fallen...flat, we probably would still see more upgrades.

Spielberg Gets His Web 2.0 On? Print E-mail

steven_spielberg.gif

Oscar winning director Steven Spielberg is rumored to be starting up his own social network. That alone would be news.

But the kicker is that his network will be dedicated to people chatting about their encounters with ghosts and aliens.

You're probably thinking the same thing I am thinking...Thank you Steven! Finally a place where I can meet other people who have seen the inside of a UFO and know what it's like to be the subject of a science project gone bad.

My real network of friends just doesn't get it. I am going to need to talk to people I can't even see to discuss the pain those green men have inflicted upon me.

OK, so maybe I never was probed by an alien, but who's going to stop me from joining this network. MySpace and Facebook have a tough enough time proving people's age, what web tool can the director who brought us Batteries Not Included develop to verify that you have seen a ghost and/or alien?

Britney and Adnan: Flirty iPhone Messages Leads to Fight Print E-mail
Tek Swank Investigates
Monday, 03 March 2008

britney-spears-adnan-purple.jpg Less than a week after we profile the new Cell Phone Spy, Britney Spears goes through the phone of her paparazi boyfriend to find flirtatious text messages from other women. The former pop diva went through boyfriend, Adnan's iPhone and found more than just his playlist (which probably includes a couple tracks from Brit).

According to the Sun, the text messages caused her to go crazy crazier than normal leading her to throw his phone into the pool.

I have seen lots of iPhone commercials, but have to see one that mentions the waterproof feature for those times when your insane girlfriend decides to throw it into the pool.

Adnan might have been able to smooth talk his back into the heart of Brit, but I'm not sure how far his soul-patch and kind words will go with the boys down at AT&T. Good luck getting that thing replaced without having to slap down some of your hard earned...errrr some of your girlfriend's money.

Parents-to-be Jessica Alba and that guy who unfortunately isn't me communicate via BlackBerry. My guess is Jess is picking up the tab on the monthly bill for the both because I am not really sure what Cash does to get cash. He sits at home and waits for the amazing Alba to come home from a hard day on set of her latest acting tour-de-force like Fantastic Four, tough job but I guess someone's got to do it.

Cell Phone Spy Deterring Celeb Cheating Text Messages Print E-mail

Wednesday, 27 February 2008

eva-longoria-prada-bag-3.jpg Just a few months ago, Tony Parker and Eva Longoria were rumored to be on the rocks thanks to the NBA guard shooting in another female's hoop.

The proof of Parker's adultery supposedly lied in the Frenchman's phone. Tony and the other girl were exchanging flirtatious text messages.

The whole thing seems to be forgotten and the two are back together and happy as can be.

But if the housewife gets desperate she may want to turn to The Cell Phone Spy, a $150 reader of SIM cards that is able to find deleted text messages and recover them. The reader can be useful for things other than spying, like backing up contacts and other info on your own phone. But the name of the thing is "Cell Phone Spy" so we all know what this will be used for.

Record Sales are Low Low Low Low Low Print E-mail
Tek Swank Investigates
Tuesday, 26 February 2008

flo_rida.jpgRapper Flo Rida's single "Low" has been the number one single for what seems like forever. While you and I struggle to get the little diddy out of your head, teens are busy not buying his CD or any other CD for that matter.

According to a report from NPD, nearly half of teens bought zero CDs in 2007 . Yes, zero CDs. That's not a single CD.

The kids are relying on the tubes of the Internet for the musical fix. Some of them even pay for them, 29 million people bought music online last year, a 21% jump from 24 million in 2006.

In the words of our boy Flo, record sales are low, low, low, low, low.

Sorry that song is now stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Just go buy a new CD, or steal a song or two on a P2P.

Celeb Web Presence: Courtney Love Print E-mail
Tek Swank Investigates
Wednesday, 20 February 2008

courtney_love-12322.jpgCelebs and I don't have much in common. One interest some of the famous faces and I do share, however, is writing in what the kids call a blog. A few weeks back we took a look at one of the better celebrity bloggers, Kanye West. Today, however, our surfing on the interweb has lead us to quite possibly the worst.

Courtney Love the person is in need of some guidance, some help and possibly a paying gig or two. Courtney Love the blogger is in need of some guidance, some help and spell check.

On Monday, February 11 Love posted on her MySpace blog an entry titled "not my number". This entry was a rant in what may or may not be English about someone posting her friend's cell number online and saying it was in fact Love's. While reading West's blog you feel like your learning a little but more about the rapper/producer, while trying to read Love's MySpace blog you're left feeling dumber.

Three sentences, if we can call them sentences, into her blog post I could feel braincells leaping off the edge to their untimely death. I read it so you don't have to. You can click the link but please look away from your screen. Look away!

Friday, 15 February 2008

william_bluetooth.jpgSaturday night at a pre-Grammy event , will.i.am walked the red carpet rocking a blingged out Bluetooth. The bright lights of the cameras were no match for the blinding rays bouncing off the rapper/producer's ear.

Not only was the Black Eyed Peas frontman's ear piece smothered in diamonds, it was also custom fitted to the shape of will's ear.

With laws here in California soon passing to make it illegal to talk on handheld devices in your car, expect to see a lot more gowdy glowing headsets like will's.

Yes, in the words of the BEP's it's getting retarded in here.
