Release of GTA IV will Hurt Box Office Numbers for IRONMAN Print E-mail

The experts think gamers won't leave their house when a new game comes their way. Because of this, the experts think that today's release of Grand Theft Auto IV, will impact the box office numbers for the first big movie of the summer - IRONMAN. This hypothesis doesn't come from having spent any time with that strange breed known as gamers, it however comes from the box office results the weekend following the release of Halo 3...

The week Master Chief marched into stores near you, ticket sales plummeted 27%. Since nobody out here in Hollywood knows how to take any responsibility for anything that goes wrong, the big shots who drive the kind of cars that Grand Theft Auto players would love to steal and crash blamed Halo 3 for the less than stellar box office numbers.

The real reason nobody went to the movies that weekend - The Heartbreak Kid starring Ben Stiller was not exactly a movie anybody, gamers and non-gamers alike were all that pumped about plucking down 10 bucks to go see.

My guess is gamers will be able to peel themselves away from taking over Liberty City long enough to go watch Robert Downey Jr. wear an iron suit. There won't be a female in sight, of course, but they will be there.

Besides, GTA IV has more important things to ruin like the minds of our youth to worry about Hollywood and their movies.
