Apple Introduces Cheaper iPhone; Sadly Ed McMahon Still Can't Afford it Print E-mail

Apple's Steve Jobs did one of his press conference things yesterday where he rocks the black turtle-neck and jeans and busts out his latest creation much to the delight of those who kneel before him and worship Apple's every move. Yesterday's big announcement, a newer, faster and most importantly cheaper iPhone.

mcmahon.jpgNearly a year ago, early adopters were throwing down a little less than a G for the first iPhone, with the newest version of the device you can get 3G for less than $200. That's $200 more than Ed McMahon is willing to pay for your portable talking machine, Steve.

Aside from the long-speculated 3G, the new iPhone will also include: compatability with third party apps, longer battery life and GPS - something McMahon could have used when he was delivering checks and balloons to strangers' homes when he was doing the Publisher's Clearing House thing.

Come to think of it, he probably could use one of those checks too. The former sidekick of Johnny Carson is said to be about $2 million in the hole.

Rumor has it that Jay Leno's got a prize van of his own , delivering some much needed help to the man who coined the phrase, "Heeeeere's Johnny!"

The new iPhone is available in July, that will give Ed some time to save up/get more donations from famous late night talk show hosts.
