The year was 2000 and the world was controlled by two entitites, one ruled over our technology the other ruled over our eyes and ears. Eight years later, one has completely fallen off the map and the other is in jeopardy.
The two entities I speak of are Microsoft and boy bands. And in 2000
you couldn't do anything with your life without either of the two
somehow being apart of it.
Times have changed and all that
remains of the boy band explosion is Justin Timberlake's solo career
and Joey Fatone's work on the red carpet for TV Guide channel. That was
a special shout out to all you TV Guide channel watchers who thought I
would forget about you, all three of you.
Microsoft on the other
hand does not rule the world either. Apple and their fancy iPods and
commericals have broken the monopoly that once was the Bill Gates
empire.
To celebrate their falls from grace, Microsoft went and
made a parody commercial for new Windows 7 which features a very
unfunny fake boy band (see video below). An unfunny parody of something relavent would
have at least been seen as trying, but an unfunny parody of something
that hasn't been relavent in over five years is just awful.
We
can't confirm this but Microsoft is planning on creating a parody of
the "Wuzzzup" Budweiser commercials to promote Windows 8.
