'Ello guv'nor, or whatever, from glamorous London. I'm in town for the annual Stuff Live international gadget show. I love this town. So much history! Last night, in the spirit of the season, I took the London Ghost Tour and logged some interesting ectoplasmic readings on my Zuul 3000 EMR detector. Also: London Bridge is, actually, falling down. Good thing I had my portable seismometer with me. I've already alerted Parliament. Why I keep doing favors for these guys, I'll never know.
Anyhoo. Stuff Live is the big gizmo, doohickey and technology expo put
on yearly by a coalition of like-minded technophiles. Big sound
systems, widescreen everything, every type of electronic game under the
sun, and a rotating assortment of the year's trendy consumer
electronics.
There's a Guitar Hero stage this year, and I've been practicing up.
Wait 'til the Brits see me replicate, note-for-note, the entire Rush
album "Moving Pictures." Score one for the Yanks! Well, the Canadians,
technically. But still.
Some of the early highlights I've seen: The astounding Hover Chair,
which uses high-powered repelling magnets to support a lounger that
literally does not touch the ground. The designer says he was inspired
by the Tatooine landspeeders in Star Wars, so that's a recommendation
right there.
I've also got my eye on the Vetrix's line of electric scooters and
motorbikes. The girls at the booth are promising a top speed of 125
mph. Give me a crack at the drive train, I told them, and I'll bet I
can wind it up to 200 mph. They politely declined.
Gotta run, but I'll be hitting the trade show floor tomorrow, in my new Halloween costume. I'm dressing as a mitochondrion. More updates as events warrant.
