Carson Daly is a tool. I didn't say that, but I often hear other people say that. Very often, actually. Sometimes no evidence is provided to back that statement, because let's face it, you don't really need much evidence to support Daly's toolness.
On New Year's Eve, however, those who weren't quite sure if Daly was a tool got to see it on national television.
NBC gave Daly the gig to host their coverage of New Year's Eve in New York City's Time Square. There were plenty of other talented people they could have chose, but most of them probably had stuff to do - it's New Year's Eve for Pete's sake. So Carson took the gig and ran with it.
If by "ran with it" you mean gave the audience the usual dosage of Daly suckiness.
The highlight of the night, obviously was midnight when the ball dropped and we ushered in a brand new year. While millions of people across the country were kissing their loved one for the first time of 2009, Daly chose to lay his hands on his beloved gadget - a digital camera.
Guess NBC didn't have enough cameras to capture the moment, Daly had to bust out his own camera and record himself standing above the scene that was Time Square on a New Year's Eve.
