Yesterday, the best band named after an Austrian Archduke, Franz Ferdinand released their latest album, Tonight. Now that the album is out, the band's members are doing interviews again. Something they tried to avoid while creating this, their third album.
Alex Kapranos the band's frontman spoke with New York magazine yesterday to discuss among other things, interviews. More specificially interviews that end up on...the Internet.
Alex tells New York:
it was our decision not speak to the press while we were writing. But
when we ended up accidentally giving an interview, we would say things
and they'd get picked up and exaggerated... Especially on the internet. The internet is like a gossipy girls' locker room after school, isn't it?
Never before have I agreed with a guy from Glasgow than I do with Alex's comparing the Internet to a girl's locker room.
Gossip? Check. Mean remarks about someone's weight? Check. Half naked girls? Check. Fully naked girls? Check.
Yup, you Alex are a wise man. This place is a girl's locker room. A girl's locker room that I can walk into and not get thrown out of.
I'm hoping that this Paul Blart thing can boost the economy by increasing the sales of Segways. You remember the Segway, the vehicle that was going to eliminate walking.
Yeah, well that didn't really happen. I'm still walking, you're probably still walking. According to Wikipedia, as of 2006, only 23,500 Segways have been purchased.
At $4,000 a pop , a couple Segway sales here and there from one of the millions of Paul Blart viewers would really get this economy going in the right direction.
